Listen! Poem

Do you hear it?

The thrum of life all around!

Pounding, ringing on your skull.

Like the roar of the highway at 3 AM.

Ever present.

Ever demanding.

***

You cannot escape it.

Trying to run away from it only changes the sound.

The scream of tires replaced by the rushing of wind through the trees.

Water cascading like white noise on a rare quiet day.

It calls to you.

It calls you home.

***

It was never loud to annoy.

Perhaps you do not even hear it anymore.

But it is a gift for you.

A reminder that you yet live to hear.

That the world moves on no matter what.

A reminder that here lies home.
