Back to the Void Poem
I see you as you prepare for sleep.
How unsure you are for the trip.
Sent to the void like you are every night.
Cut free from all that you know.
Dumped into a space empty of it.
Holding minor echoes of the familiar to tease or trick.
***
I know what you fear and how brave you are.
The void is rarely ever empty.
Sometimes you wish it was.
It is either kind or cruel.
Rarely predictable and can switch in a second.
But either way you must go.
***
So you may stall.
Try to cling to reality a little longer.
Long enough to fluff your pillow a little more and get comfortable.
Just long enough until you are ready to face it.
For the trip must be taken.
You will return back to the void.
