Christmas Lights Poem

Tiny fixed fireflies suspended in time.
Forever broadcasting the same message.
Hope and cheer against the cold dark night.
Tiny friends attempting to hold back the loneliness.
Weak solo, but together strong.
Brave little soldiers.

They could live here, there, or anywhere.
Alight on a tree for the winter.
Or perched like protective gargoyles on the house eves.
Identified at a glance by the gentle glow.
Crowned by little halos that they wear with pride.
Beauty that is part of their nature and gift.
***
These little creatures are so diverse without even trying.
All the colors of the rainbow put in ordered line.
Sometimes traveling in a single shaded herd and other times traveling in a ragtag group of found family.
None any less than the other since they all have individual use.
Spectrum of creativity given form.
Migrating as the earth travels around the sun.
***
Oh how I wish I was one of those Christmas lights.
Bringing light to the world without even trying.
Making a dark place better by simply existing.
A use and place I know I am supposed to be.
How confident and happy they must be.
Please little fireflies, share some of your magic with me.
