Told You Poem

I told you that your shadow holds more colors than you know.

They scream of your victories and failures in kind.

You would never know because you never look behind.

Choosing instead to wear it as a grand cloak.

And oh how magnificent it is.

Threaded with all the seasons of life.

***

I told you that I filled my blood with color for you.

All so I know what the colors in your shadow mean.

So I can have a fraction of what you hold.

My only goal is to be close to you like that shadow.

Wrapped in the same beauty and grace you hold.

Then maybe I will be strong enough to accept my own shadow.
