To be Kind Poem
Jesus once said to be kind.
It is not because it is easy.
It means to ignore past pain.
To pull out the thorns along with your own.
To put retaliation aside and forget.
Face the day anew despite reality.
***
It was not said to set us free.
Knowing that you are doing right is good, but selfserving in the end.
A moral code with a false back like a one way mirror.
A trick of the light not allowing flaw to show.
No perspective for growth.
Chains are not chains if we had the ability to break it the entire time.
***
To be kind is simply the only thing that works with enemies.
They pull away as hard as they can though they were bound long ago.
Exhausted from the assault on your exposed skin.
So used to the hateful reaction in response.
They would rather dig their heals in and burn.
Foaming at the mouth like a horse stuck in a barn on fire.
***
So be kind.
Not for any particular benefit.
Not because helps you.
But because you could be the pin that sets another free and break their chains instead.
And if you start to live in positivity, a miracle might happen.
You might just start to believe it.
