Here in the Dark Poem

I see you here in the dark.

Waiting to finally fall apart.

More than you can take.

So you shut out the night.

Along with everything else.

Including the light.

***

You are tired of being here in the dark.

Dreading every second before you can fall apart.

It is too bad that your hope is stronger than the light.

Not so easy to smother aware.

So practiced at being strong that you forgot how to be weak.

It would be easier to just not care.

***

But perhaps… you are not alone here in the dark.

Maybe you do not need to fall apart.

See?

Hope lights up the dark lights up the dark like little embers bright.

You might sometimes want to fall apart.

But you will always carry a little light
