Reset Poem
The sun filters in through the blinds.
It should be a beautiful day.
I wish I could feel it.
The sun is lovely on my skin but not what I need right now.
The day might be right,
But I am not.
***
What I need is a reset.
I cannot match the pace of sun.
Reaching the night with the same steady rate.
I am tied down by clouds the sky does not have.
It may be just today or uncounted in a row.
The pattern needs to break.
***
Sometimes all it takes is a quick reset.
A chance to make my own night.
Reset my own weather pattern.
Easier after a little rest to reorganize.
I do not expect myself to run better than a machine.
Not even that created to be perfect works all the time.
***
So the sun may shine but I will be inside.
Head rested on a soft pillow.
No, I will not be here all day.
An hour or two is all I need.
For I know one truth.
After clouds comes the sun.
