Gravity Poem
I have dreamed of visiting space.
Tethered by nothing and restrictions lifted.
A taste of the power I am missing out on.
Given room to move and thrive.
The glitter of stars my only companion.
Perhaps I could be happy there.
***
I delude myself.
Separation from all can never be true freedom.
What I seek is just the power I was missing from the start.
Space does not contain the solution I seek.
It attempts to fill a gap with emptiness.
Improbable equation with an equally illogical solution.
***
Gravity is not my true enemy.
While I remain restricted, it also binds all I value to me.
Keeping it from floating just out of reach where I could never touch.
Diminishing the strength of the pushes I never truly meant.
An uncomfortable law that does not discriminate.
Equal order in the chaos.
***
I may not be equal, but gravity always is.
Immutable fairness that causes the weighty to fall and light to float.
It is not a bad thing that my soul is heavy nor my fault.
It just makes it all the more valuable.
Recognized as a thing of substance.
Just as gravity intended.
