Those That Cannot Poem

There are two kinds of people that need help.

The veterans and the newbies both equally scramble at times.

Looking for the nearest open heart to take shelter.

A listening ear and a friendly hand.

A guide that might hold what they require most.

A place of rest and safety.

***

There are those that can handle the struggle.

Those veterans that know the feeling of failure.

Growing pains that never seem to leave.

Filtering the pain through the screen of experience.

Much more palettable to swallow down.

A struggle without being fully overwhelmed.

***

There are also those that cannot handle the struggle.

Unaccustomed to the spice of it all.

Drowning in an unexpected deep end before learning to swim.

Those people need a life raft the most.

The drowning is often silent.

Suffocating on the struggle.

***

Neither group asks for the pain.

A different tolerance for every individual.

It is important to tend to the needs of those that can and those that cannot.

A life guard should be stationed no matter what.

But if you have the ability,

Be extra alert for those that cannot.
