The Abiter Poem
Who is the arbiter for you.
Do they listen and do what is fair?
Fair to you or themselves instead.
Exclusionary is a scary word.
Hints at unbalance.
A flaw in the system.
***
Others covet the power.
Crawling from the cracks in the walls like vermin.
Not caring for the balance.
Single minded push for the self or a goal.
Does not matter what the arbiter did in the past.
It belongs to them instead.
***
I wonder who will be the next arbiter.
Will it be a passing of a torch or a forced burden?
An act of need instead of want.
Heavy as a crown pinned to the brow.
A beginning and end of a lineage.
Whispers of destruction.
***
I do not want to be the arbiter.
A job with endless consequences.
This power is not freedom and never was.
A cursed treasure that harms when handled.
Prized beyond life but not always affecting our own.
Doom heralded by the wings of liberty.
