Time Traveling Keyboard Poem
I think it would be nice to have a time traveling keyboard.
An uncommon superpower and unusual wish.
Thought of by the idle mind staring at the wall.
Not the logical choice but a philosophical one.
Pulled from a place of longing.
I could barely begin to tell you how useful it would be for the future.
***
I might see the teardrops on the screen.
Words blurred into fuzzy pixels.
Taking to divining the meaning by connecting the dots.
Little personal constellations used to avoid the worst path forward.
Lesson learned without the consequences.
Mistakes undone.
***
What words could pass through it?
Work completed and tales told.
Reading it all for the first time far earlier.
The wisdom I could gleem would make the average scholar jealous.
Knowledge of what will happen.
Forbidden knowledge.
***
I could see every text I ever wrote.
Perhaps I could protect those that I love.
Sequestered away from those panicking words that I sent.
Preserved from harm that seeks the unarmed.
A useful protector instead of praying to the digital void to respond.
The beautiful safety.
***
I would never be left with no answer.
I could see how every route ends.
Curtain pulled back to see the hidden engine.
Mystery removed and confidence restored.
But none of it available for human eyes,
So I will have to be content with staring at a wall.
