Lies Poem

Lies are always bitter.

A medicine that people take to compensate.

One that causes more damage the higher the dose.

There are those that are addicted to it.

Choking it down until the throat is coated in iron.

A death sentence that they would choose all over again.

***

The unfortunate reality is that it starts as sweet.

Luring in with a false sense of safety.

Honey covering up the pill.

Unprepared for the actual consequences.

Taking more and more in hopes for the initial sweetness.

A craving refreshed by every dose.

***

Trust me, an untreated addict is a lost cause.

They will sell your heart and soul just to reinforce the lies they built.

A scaffold made of brambles.

Used and never meant to be touched again.

They believe they need them until the moment they fall apart.

Simply continue living on and let them crumble with time.
