All Fall In Line Poem

Just like the rest I fall in line.

Playing my role to perfection.

One that I am expected to already know by heart.

Full of emotion and absolutely no redos.

It has to be right the first time.

First impressions are important after all.

***

Just like the rest of my family, I perform to an invisible audience.

For the performer and observer are one in the same.

Both judging and seeking praise.

Hearing the quiet commentating whispers in the dark out of sight from the rest.

I know there are probably whispers about me as well.

So I fall in line and play my role.

***

There is little surprise with our character.

Lines that never change.

Easy to memorize and repeat.

I play both myself and a fragment of a character.

But that is what is just easier.

So I fall in line and play my role.

***

I do not want to be here, but the show must go on.

The audience is waiting though they do not want to be here either.

A musical that begins again anew as soon as the light turns on again.

Full of jesters, villains and more.

It is expected.

So I fall in line and play my role.
