Another Health Journey
Well here we are again. I was hoping to at least make it a year before I needed medical help again. Apparently it was not in the cards.
It started a little over a month ago. Right after a stressful event I started having body aches and a constant headache. I attributed it all to stress. It made logical sense so I hung on and did not contact the doctor. It soon got so much worse. The body aches worsened and soon fatigue and weakness set in. I also found myself to no longer feeling hungry. Often I felt full after a few bites or just jumped straight into nausea. I finally got an in person appointment with my doctor. Also around the same time I had two infected toes. One recovered on its own but the other one needed antibiotics and a topical steroid. Neither of which were ingrown. The reason for these two issues might or might not be related to everything else or completely separate. Neither my doctor or the urgent care doctor I saw could come up with an explanation.
Testing round 1: blood work
I received a battery of blood tests. I despise needles but felt so bad that I was actually happy it was being done. A lot of them were normal but two in particular had significant results. My ALT test score was 69 with the upper limit of normal being 40. My B12 score was also over 1200 which was elevated far beyond normal. Both are common with liver damage or problems. My inflammation score was borderline as well.
My doctor had no answer as to what might be wrong but began to suspect several issues. I was made to wait a week before further testing. I waited at home and did my best to pass the time quickly even though miserable.
Testing round 2: blood work, urine sample and stool sample.
Repeat blood work was more or less unchanged with ALT being 66, B12 being in the upper 1100s. Inflammation score was even higher than before pointing to an issue. Urine was normal and stool sample results have yet to come back.
My doctor suspects either a liver disorder or a major h. pylori bacteria infection. Both have almost identical symptoms. An ultrasound is now scheduled for this Friday to check on several different organs including but not limited to: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and stomach.
My journey stops here for now. It is just a waiting game now. I hope to God that there is a diagnosis and quick solution. I do not want to fight these symptoms for an indefinite time period. My disability type is also super susceptible to non alcoholic fatty liver disease. I do not weigh a crazy amount or eat a lot of poor quality food so I pray that is not the reason. I’ll cry if the little amount of food I can safely physically eat with my disability shrinks any further.
Prayers for continued resilience and a positive attitude would be appreciated. I’ll post again when I know more.
