Thank You For The Yard
Thank you for fulfilling a need. Providing a space to thrive. A reason to break the bars on the cage I have designed for myself. To leave the dark cave of a bedroom I could stay in for hours on end. Lit by artificial light meant to simulate what was missing when I had given up hope of the real thing.
A place to grow. A place to dream.
Green and welcoming. A space reflecting the heart. No longer neglected from a void of care. A garden made from literal dust. Hope revived and made manifest all in one move. A childhood dream.
Thank you for being for me what others could or would not. For amending an unchanging hostile environment, even if just a little.
Thank you for the sanctuary. Thank you for doing what my father would not.
