The Gatekeeper Poem

The gatekeeper blocks the path forward.

Wider than logic and taller than what should be able.

There is no way around them.

Armed with self crafted policy.

Guarded by an inscrutable helm that indifferent eyes shine from.

Ears unhearing.

***

The gatekeeper demands a toll from all.

For some it is unwavering submission.

Circus hoops to jump through at their request.

Other times it is your very life.

Lost strength or struggle that overwhelms before they move from their post.

A clock run out.

***

The gatekeeper pretends to play God.

Able to play with lives but unable to understand the true consequences.

That what they guarded was never heaven but a warzone.

It’s only when they are reduced from the post do they realize what they have done.

Standing to block those tortured titanium gates.

Until the line before them reaches the horizon.
