Under Pressure Poem
Depression creeps in under the dark of night.
Loneliness swaps places with my friends.
Anxiety became a watchman long ago.
Hope carries a box almost too big for it.
Happiness is often on vacation.
My mind is under pressure.
***
Joints ache from the lack of use.
Bruises form at the slightest extra push.
I no longer can tell the difference between old and new pains.
Skin burns in minutes of sunlight.
Lungs permanently scarred from illness.
My body is under pressure.
***
Grief lurks just out of sight as an unwanted companion.
Betrayals still left scars.
Wants left unanswered.
Grown to needs also unwatched.
Also shouldered by the wings of hope.
My heart is under pressure.
***
An echoing call for relief.
Shot skyward with all my hope carries.
Directed towards the ears of the one that can carry it all.
Praying for a response.
An answer before it all comes crashing back down.
My soul is under pressure.
