Out In The Yard Poem

My eyes are drawn to the flowers.

Painted with all the colors under the sky.

Temporary sculptures of life.

Home to tiny creatures and even further unseen beings.

Scented inspiration.

Provided at no cost or human effort.

***

Movement distracts.

Quick lizards dart over both wood and stone.

Making the world a playground.

Enjoying the sunlight.

Staring back at me with inquisitive eyes.

Testaments of the safety of the land.

***

Ants crawl along concrete cracks.

A line that follows another without error.

Unity beyond human ability.

Moving entirely as one.

Dedication and trust I long to emulate.

Living as one or not at all.

***

A crane fly buzzes past my face.

Missing a front leg.

Identifiable because of it but not unique.

Landing without issue on the dirt below.

Living to the fullest with what life it has.

My dog runs up and eats it whole.
