What I Love Poem

I love it when I smell those soothing scents.

Jasmine and wisteria.

Mountain misery and redwood pine.

Rain and ocean mist.

The scents that roll over and comfortably blanket like cut grass on a warm day.

***

I love it when I taste what I adore.

Macaroons and tea.

Homemade boysenberry and chocolate chip ice cream.

Tender steak with A1 sauce.

The tastes that bring me to my child innocence like mom’s chicken lemon orzo stew.

***

I love it when I see the familiar sights.

Boomers Arcade where I won a lava lamp and a few bouncy balls.

The cabin where I was vibrated by thunder and watched The Matrix as I ate strawberry Pocky.

The camping trailer park where I snuck ducks spaghetti I didn’t want and listened to a great horned owl at a campfire.

Sights that invigorate the imagination like the bustle of Fisherman’s Warf in San Francisco.

***

I love it when I feel those beautiful emotions.

The warmth and happiness of receiving care from a friend.

The glow and contentment of being satisfied in life.

The freedom and inspiration of a lucid dream.

Emotions that ground me but free me at the same time like love.
