Keys February 29th

Perspective: 1st and modified 3rd person

I’m looking down on the inside of some type of cave system. Ruins are scattered around as well as abandoned technology. Old and half destroyed trains lay about like discarded crushed cans. I am viewing it all like a top down game. A character with a sword and staff stands in the middle of my view. No monitor boarder exists in my reality but I’m well aware that I’m playing a game. Monsters clamber around the ruins. No other players seem to be around.

I’m killing monsters and rarely, very rarely, a “key” will drop. The keys are colored stones that were elemental themed. Other players had not been collecting them as they seemed useless and no door had ever been discovered that they unlocked. This was not a puzzle game so everyone else had returned to exploring and slaying.

I had found a location earlier elsewhere that had seven pedestals. It appeared to be a dead end cliff that overlooked a vibrant expanse of water. Four ancient pedestals were on the cliff land and three sticking out of the water. One in particular was barely visible in the horizon. I had found seven keys and no more were dropping. I would now try to see if they did anything.

My perspective shifts to first person. I’m in my own body and pale beach grass waves around me on the cliff. A sun sits just above the horizon in permanent sunset. Two of the stones were an airy blue green, two were a brilliant gold, and three were a void like purple. I take each one out in turn. Confidently I point at the pedestal I find appropriate. I place the air like ones on the highest pedestals behind the cave entrance I had exited. The gold ones went on the ones closest to the ground. Finally the void ones. I willed them to float out and they went.

I was left with the last one to place but before I could do so, I was interrupted.

“You need to get ready to go now or you will be late for the movie you’re seeing with your sister!”, my mom’s voice interjects from somewhere.

I look at the last purple key in my lap and contemplated just going for it no matter matter the consequences.

“Can I have a few more minutes?” I ask.

“No, now.” The voice demands.

I sigh. The mystery would have to wait. I decide to leave and the dream is terminated.
