Sanctuary February 15th

Perspective: 1st person

I’m arguing with my father about something. He wants to leave our property bare outside. A look out the back window showed a liminal and unnaturally flat landscape. Nothing was visible all the way to the horizon line. I was not comfortable with it and felt like I couldn’t thrive like that. I see red and tell him that I at least need a green room for myself

To my surprise he listens and agrees to provide that much. I get excited and start picturing what it might look like. The dream shifts and suddenly I’m there. The deck outside has become a large room with two glass walls and a glass ceiling. The walls that are concrete are lined with tables and floating shelves with plants and art pieces. A metal table with chairs are in the middle of the room. A tree grows out of a planter in the floor. Branches provide shade for the sitting area and one side of the area. Vibrant green lawn covers the floor in the far corners but still leaves space for a concrete path between it and the wall. Some kind of tower is visible through the ceiling from a neighboring business. Blue banners wind around it. Maybe Christmas decor that had been left up because of its beauty. I’m not envious. This is my space and it is perfect.

Here I can thrive.
