Stereotypical Fantasy Dream February 5th

Perspective: Third person POV majority with first person POV infrequently

A great tree exists with houses built on its many layered boughs and the male main character lives here though only recently. The world is now different and neither him nor his family is used to it. Certain people are granted power and abilities and in return exist separately from everyone else on earth. Monsters roam this new plane. The world is now both so much bigger and smaller than it used to be. There is a huge sense of longing for an old version of living and curiosity for the future. Everything used to be so much simpler and safe but now the main character was part of a world he could only dream of before. He is part of the newest generation of those taken to this version of the world. People had been taken in at a certain age for over a hundred years. The unnamed main character was far from the first and would not be the last. For my part, I am strictly an observer and sometimes a stand in for the main character if my subconscious sees fit.

The main character has a secret. Of course he has a known primary ability type of greatly enhanced agility, combat and speed, but on top of that he is protecting a monstrous pair of spiked and webbed flesh colored wings. These wings are the exact same type a greatly feared serpent type monster uses. Perhaps reality had errored when he was transplaced here or perhaps something deeper was at work. These wings are hid with a cloak that would not be out of place in this new reality. When the wings are used for too long, he appears to look much more like a strange hybrid being for a time so they are a last resort even if ignoring the connotation of the wings with other people. He attends a school built by the older generations of people in this reality. It is supposed to be a safe place of learning and combat training so the younger generation can prepare for survival. Unfortunately, it is anything but safe. This reality seems to be made up of two main factions. The first faction respects the current reality and does the best to carve out an existence for themselves and others while using their own power and teamwork. This is the main faction in charge. The second faction is more hidden and covets power and control over others. They seek to break the walls of this reality to return to the plane that they came from with their newfound power. They will use any means necessary in their quest for control even if it means the destruction of this secondary reality and the murder of everyone and everything in it. This second faction has infiltrated almost every part of society and the school is no exception. Both strong students and a few teachers lay in wait for the perfect opportunities to take advantage. Our main character has to navigate all of this while keeping his secret safe from those that would discriminate him, take advantage, or kill him for it. Will he be able to continue to hide it all while protecting others? Why is he so unique? Why does this reality exist in the first place? Your imagination is probably better than mine at coming up with those answers past this point. I woke up just when the mystery was getting good.
