Golden Gate Park Conservatory of Flowers

Accessible: very

I visited here with a good friend and very much enjoyed visiting. The building is separated into five sections: a central room, two side wings, and two end rooms on the end of both wings. Each room represents a type of tropical environment or to display the beauty of tropical plants. There are doors between rooms but they swing both ways and are incredibly easy to push past in a wheelchair.

The humidity was very high throughout the building. I also got frequently dripped on from plant respiration. It was enough to joke that I should not have bothered taking a shower earlier, but I did not hate it. The entire area felt alive and it was so well up kept that I didn’t have to be constantly concerned about running over a stray branch or root. The water features were lovely and I was introduced to a very old koi named Frank by a worker. They offer plants for sale that they have in excess inside the plant gallery in the far lefthand room. The same room also has tables and chairs for those that need a break from standing. Flowers from different plant varieties seem in bloom year around in different amounts. Though a small building overall, I could spend all day here. Will definitely be back.
